the space between fantasy and reality is where a dreamy haze clouds perception
silky hues of darkness and glitter illuminate your vision
the sparkle in your eye shows that you are, indeed, present
yet your brain seems to be curtained
you look around and see the shadows dancing
you watch as they approach you
moving nimbly and swift
but as they pass by you don’t feel the bitterness they exude
perhaps it is for the better
to be numb to all malevolence and ill fortune
and lie safe and sound within the twilight zone
in which you are incapable of feeling pain
but is it worthy
being subjected to such pain and horror
and be helpless and powerless
unable to feel your voice
in the twilight zone
while demons and darkness poke at your sole
you must remain still and silent
pretending to see past reality
Author's note:
I imagine twilight sleep to be a state of deep sleep where you cannot control your movements or feel anything but are still aware of what is happening. This state is comparable to lucid dreaming. It is like being trapped in a movie as a character who cannot go against a script.
