Queue

Writer: MajaMaja

A long queue of people. From a distance, it looks like uneven stairs because of the height difference among its components. Also, like a mosaic due to the variety of colors. It is very static - there is an illusion that the queue is not moving - you will never meet your goal. The view - ordinary, there is no day where the queue is gone. Some people are leaving - and new people are coming, but it does not change a thing. So different that they all seem the same. You must ask yourself - what can be so rewarding at the end of this queue. What can be worth standing for hours or years when sometimes the weather is so harsh you think it is your enemy. A bucket - a bucket filled with water. The enduring: who finally get to touch the bucket may pour the water on their body to purify themselves, to cleanse. The water makes them free of pain, free of lies, free of evil. Free.

What could be worth more than freedom?

Author's note:

People are waiting in the queue to free themselves from lies, from pain and from evil. That is my vision of purgatory.
